Shortly after, Logan pulled up outside Stella’s apartment building. He told her that he would always be there for her, urging her not to carry the burden alone.
Stella offered a faint smile and nodded before turning to head into the lobby.
That night, Stella expected to toss and turn, but surprisingly, she slept soundly until morning.
However, the moment she turned her phone on, Seraphina Quinn called, demanding she rush over because George Quinn had woken up and wanted to see her.
Stella immediately hurried to the hospital.
George was still in the ICU. Although he was conscious, half of his body was paralyzed, and there was a noticeable droop to his mouth and eyes.
After speaking with the doctor, Stella learned that George was suffering from the aftermath of a stroke. This condition would plague him for the rest of his life. While there might be some improvement, a full recovery was impossible.
Stella donned protective gear and went in to see him. At the sight of her, a faint light flickered in George’s eyes. He opened his mouth to speak, but his words were garbled and broken.
Standing by his bed, Stella felt a complicated knot in her chest. She had harbored years of resentment and grievances against him, wishing him misery at the height of her anger. But seeing him in this pathetic state brought an undeniable ache to her heart.
“I’ve notified Simeon. He’ll be here by tonight at the latest,” Stella said softly, trying to offer comfort. “As for The Quinn Group, Jarrod already sent people to handle the situation.”
She decided to hold off on mentioning her divorce until George’s condition stabilized.
