Chapter 282
He Never Noticed Me Until I Loved Someone Else novel Chapter 282
Jarrod stepped out and strode inside.
Hearing the commotion, Mrs. Whitby came out and asked if he wanted something to eat.
He gave a brief nod and sat down on the sofa.
His gaze immediately fell on the wooden jewelry box resting on the coffee table.
It was the same one Stella had brought down to return to him that morning. He hadn’t touched it since.
Without his instructions, Mrs. Whitby obviously wouldn’t dare move it, so it had sat there collecting dust.
Jarrod reached out and flipped the lid open. Inside lay an array of exquisite, priceless jewelry that sparkled brilliantly under the overhead lights.
His eyes scanned the glittering pieces before finally settling on a velvet box tucked at the bottom.
Pausing for a second, he pulled out the velvet box and opened it, revealing a neat row of rings in various styles and materials.
People always mistook her for a single woman because she never wore a ring. When she complained that her wedding band was too flashy for daily wear, he had specifically picked out this assortment so she wouldn’t have any excuse left.
On the day he gifted them, he had shot her several pointed looks, silently hoping she would notice his own bare finger and take the hint to buy him one in return.
But Stella had shown zero reaction, simply thanking him politely and leaving it at that.
Back then, she never actually wanted to wear them. She had probably already made up her mind to divorce him, hadn’t she?
He brushed his thumb over the row of rings, a lump forming in his throat as an indescribable, heavy ache twisted in his chest.
Abruptly, he snapped the box shut, stood up, and headed straight for the door.
“Mr. Fuller, are you heading out? Dinner is almost ready!” Mrs. Whitby called out as she emerged from the kitchen.
He simply waved a hand dismissively, signaling he wouldn’t be eating.
Outside, the driver hadn’t left yet.
