Stella brushed a finger lightly over the corner of her eye and shook her head. “It’s nothing. Let’s go.”
Saying that, Stella stood up from her chair and turned to walk out with Jarrod.
“Stella…”
Although Logan hadn’t fully recovered his memories, seeing the two of them standing so intimately together still evoked a sharp, twisting pain in his chest, compelling him to call out to her.
Stella paused and looked back at Logan. “I’ve said everything I need to say. We both have our own partners now. There’s no point in dragging up meaningless things from the past.”
He seemed to remember saying something shockingly similar to Stella not long ago.

Before Stella could even speak, Jarrod’s indifferent voice cut through the air.
His tone sounded polite on the surface, but it was dripping with absolute menace.
Logan naturally caught the warning. His chest tightened even more, but before he could retaliate, Jarrod had already wrapped a protective arm around Stella and guided her out of the coffee shop.
It wasn’t until she was sitting in the car that Stella’s rigidly tensed nerves finally relaxed slightly, though the lingering shock hadn’t entirely dissipated.
