Stella placed some food onto Jasper’s plate. “We’re finalizing the paperwork on Friday afternoon.”
“Wait, so… tomorrow?”
Jasper immediately pledged his loyalty. “I don’t care what the papers say. You’ll always be the only family I acknowledge!”
Stella couldn’t help but laugh at his childishly earnest declaration, and the heavy gloom caused by Lucca’s betrayal lifted significantly.
After dinner, Jasper dragged her to the local Artisan Night Market, swearing it was a must-see.
The market wasn’t overly crowded. After walking for a bit, Stella felt a wave of exhaustion and found a quiet spot under a nearby tree to rest.
Barely a moment after she sat down, she noticed a couple standing beneath the shadows of a tree not far away.
The woman held up a hairpin, offering it to the man to put in her hair. He took it gently and carefully pinned it in place.
In response, the woman went up on her tiptoes and pressed a tender kiss against the man’s lips!

Staring at the silhouettes—one tall, one petite—she realized with sickening clarity that it really was Lucca and Aria!
“It took me so long to gather the courage to confess to you. Please, just… don’t reject me yet, okay?”
Aria’s voice was soft and hauntingly pleading. “I know how deep your feelings are for Summer. I’m not asking for your love. I just want to stay quietly by your side and love you in secret.”
