Summer Rhodes told her that her friend’s father had been quite busy lately, but he would be coming to Royal Oaks on Wednesday for an academic exchange.
“He can spare some time in the evening to check on Logan. The only issue is, can you convince Logan to go?” Summer sounded a bit worried.
After all, Logan wasn’t even answering Stella’s calls, let alone agreeing to see her in person.
Stella pressed her lips together. “I’ll figure something out.”
“Alright then. I’ll give you Professor Thorne’s contact info. Once things are settled on Logan’s end, you can schedule a time with him.”
“Yeah, thank you, Summer.”
The two discussed a few more details before ending the call.
Putting her phone away, Stella still felt a knot of anxiety in her chest.
Summer’s concern was entirely justified.
There was a very real possibility that Logan would flat out refuse to cooperate and see the professor with her.
But regardless, Stella couldn’t let this rare opportunity slip away.

The next day was Tuesday.
Stella had off-site work, so she didn’t go to the office.
After finishing her tasks, she rushed to the hospital where Logan had been staying.
Skylar Vance worked here.
Logan was clearly guarded against her. Since Stella couldn’t convince him, her only option was to plead with Skylar.
On the day she found out Logan had woken up, while frantically searching for him, Stella had heard some things about Skylar.
Skylar had studied medicine abroad for a few years. This hospital was affiliated with her family, and she had started her internship here last year. Now, she was the youngest doctor in the neurology department.
Last time at the Quinn residence, Skylar had claimed to be her and Logan’s high school classmate. Stella had asked around to verify.
There was indeed someone like that in their class.
