Jarrod met her gaze deeply for a fraction of a second before looking away. His voice was resolute as he declared that he would stay behind.
“Silas, our rivalry is between us. Keep innocent people out of it.”
A hint of pleading edged into Jarrod’s voice. “I’ve already confessed everything to the press; my tenure at The Fuller Group is over. You can tell everyone I’ve fallen ill and moved abroad to recover. You won’t have to worry about me fighting you for power, and you won’t risk kidnapping charges. Isn’t that a better deal?”
Silas barked out another laugh at the suggestion. “It seems you care deeply for both of them, Jarrod. Willing to suffer yourself rather than drag them down. It’s a tempting offer, but honestly? I still want to watch you choose.”
Silas pulled out a combat knife from seemingly nowhere. “How about this? You take this knife and stab one of them. Once I see blood, I’ll accept that you’ve made your choice. Deal?”
Silas was a complete psychopath!
Jarrod realized this instantly. Clenching his jaw, he said flatly, “I can’t do it. They haven’t done anything wrong. Neither of them deserves this.”
Silas smirked. “Since you can’t decide, let me choose for you!”
Just as Stella braced herself, expecting Silas to plunge the blade into her, he suddenly pivoted and stalked straight toward Yvette!
Yvette let out a terrified, ear-piercing scream.
In the exact moment Silas moved toward Yvette, Jarrod exploded into motion. With blistering speed, he kicked away the guard holding him down, spun around, and delivered a brutal kick to the man guarding Stella before the thug could even react!
