Chapter 388
He Never Noticed Me Until I Loved Someone Else novel Chapter 388
Silas casually dragged a rusted folding chair over, planted it directly in front of Stella, and brushed a speck of imaginary dust off his tailored cuff. He offered her a wide, sickeningly warm smile.
“Stella, it hasn’t even been that long, but look at you—you’ve lost so much weight. Is it because Jarrod threw you out like trash, or because your daddy finally croaked?”
Silas’s tone was incredibly conversational, but his words were precision-guided missiles designed to mentally break her!
Stella refused to give him the satisfaction of a reaction. Forcing her voice to remain dead level, she asked, “Silas, what exactly are you trying to accomplish by dragging us out here?”
Silas kept the unnerving smile plastered on his face. “What am I trying to accomplish? I’m just waiting for that little bastard Jarrod to come dig his own grave.”
Even though she had already deduced his endgame, hearing Silas confirm it sent a violent chill racing down Stella’s spine.
“Silas, wasn’t Jarrod lost at sea with Arthur Sr.? How is he supposed to show up?” Stella forced herself to speak, though a slight tremor betrayed her terror. “Besides, Jarrod and I finalized our divorce months ago. Using me as bait is completely pointless…”
The smile never left Silas’s face as he reached out, his fingers digging into Stella’s jaw, forcing her to look at him. “With a face this stunning, I find it hard to believe a man would just forget about you. But it doesn’t matter. I already sent the coordinates to Jarrod. Once he walks through those doors, we’ll find out exactly how valuable you really are!”
Stella’s heart plummeted. Silas was entirely convinced that Jarrod was the mastermind orchestrating his recent downfall. By kidnapping both her and Yvette, he was forcing Jarrod out of the shadows for a final standoff.
Just then, one of the thugs rushed into the warehouse and whispered something urgently into Silas’s ear. Silas released Stella’s jaw, a manic gleam of absolute triumph igniting in his eyes. “I knew that little bastard would show up!”
“Bring him in. And sweep the perimeter—make sure he didn’t bring the cops! Shoot anyone who gets within fifty feet of this building!”
The thug bolted to execute the orders. Silas then barked at the man guarding Yvette to wake her up.
The guard grabbed a bucket of murky water and violently splashed it directly into Yvette’s face. She jolted awake, gasping and sputtering.
