Chapter 361
He Never Noticed Me Until I Loved Someone Else novel Chapter 361
After arranging for a private caretaker for Yvette, Jarrod drove Stella back to the apartment.
To soothe her nerves, Jarrod stayed in the master bedroom, holding her tightly in his arms until she finally drifted off to sleep. Only then did he quietly slip out of bed.
Jarrod had a mountain of crises to handle, and he barely slept a wink that night.
By the next morning, Stella’s emotions had mostly stabilized.
When she walked out of the bedroom, she found Jarrod asleep on the living room couch, still wearing the same clothes from yesterday.
Faint dark circles rested under his eyes, and a light stubble shadowed his jaw. It was obvious he had stayed up working long after she had fallen asleep.
Stella’s heart ached at the sight. She quietly fetched a light blanket from the bedroom. Just as she leaned over to drape it across him, Jarrod’s eyes fluttered open, his irises webbed with exhaustion.
Seeing her, his gaze softened. He reached out a hand, gesturing for her to come closer.
Stella stepped up to him, tucked the blanket over his chest, and gently took his slightly cold hand in hers.
“Why didn’t you go back to bed? The couch is so narrow, and it’s cold out here,” Stella murmured, her voice laced with concern.
Jarrod pulled her down into his arms, letting out a low, raspy chuckle. “I was terrified that if I slept next to you, I wouldn’t be able to control my urges. So I came out here to cool off, and accidentally fell asleep.”
Stella knew he was just trying to comfort her. He had only left the room so he wouldn’t wake her while he worked.
A lump formed in her throat, her chest swelling with emotion. She rested her head against his chest and whispered, “Are the Quinns and I causing you too much trouble?”
Jarrod pressed a kiss to her hair. “Don’t be silly. That’s not true at all. Silas is just looking for any excuse to attack me. It has nothing to do with you.”
“Jarrod, thank you,” Stella said softly.
Jarrod tightened his arms around her, teasing, “If you really want to thank me, call me your husband.”
