Catching the absolute exasperation in Stella’s eyes, Jarrod coughed awkwardly.
“I only recently realized that you truly believed I had zero feelings for you. You never thought I’d take your side, so why would you ever ask me for help?”
Stella didn’t comment on that, moving on to her next grievance.
“When you bought breakfast for Chloe, you bought it for the whole department. Don’t tell me that had something to do with me too.”
Jarrod coughed again, awkwardly moving the thermal container from the bedside table to the coffee table. He grabbed a tissue and wiped his hands, trying to look busy.
Seeing Stella staring at him, waiting for an answer, Jarrod finally confessed.
That morning at Skyview Lofts, they had a terrible argument. He had stormed off in a rage but couldn’t bring himself to just order her breakfast directly, so he took a ridiculously convoluted route.
He used Chloe as an excuse to order breakfast for the entire department, just to ensure Stella would eat something.
