Thinking back on all of it, Stella’s shoulders began to tremble slightly, and tears slipped silently down her cheeks.
Seeing this, Logan felt his heart constrict so violently he could barely breathe.
He finally gathered the courage to clutch her hand, both of his knees now planted firmly on the floor. “Don’t cry, Starrie,” he choked out. “Hit me. Hit me as hard as you want. When I treated you like that, you should have just beaten some sense into me…”

In the past, if he ever made her mad, she would immediately voice her frustration. She would hit him, yell at him, or spin around in a huff and ignore him. The one thing she would never do was force herself to cry in silence.
It was him. He had caused this.
