Jarrod simply sat on the edge of the bed, acting as her personal backrest while he offered her more water.
George looked immensely relieved. “Jarrod, thank God you made it there in time. Otherwise, Stella might have…”
He choked on his words, suddenly emotional.
Stella couldn’t be bothered to figure out if his tears were genuine or fake. “Dad, I’m fine now. You two should head back.”
Despite everything, she was still his daughter. George was genuinely concerned about her condition and clearly wanted to stay a bit longer.
But Sylvia chimed in with a gentle smile, urging him along. “Let’s go. Jarrod is here to take care of her; what’s there to worry about? If we stay, we’ll just be interrupting their privacy.”
Hearing that, George finally stood up. Before leaving, he repeatedly reminded Stella to call him if she needed anything.
Once they were gone, a heavy silence settled over the hospital room.
Stella tilted her head to look at Jarrod. She thanked him softly, then asked how he had ended up at the café.
Jarrod explained that he had a gap in his schedule that morning and had texted her. When she didn’t reply and his calls wouldn’t go through, he grew worried.
He had then called Mr. Stafford to check on her.
Mr. Stafford filled him in on the crisis at SD Apparel and mentioned that Stella had stepped out.
Just as Jarrod was trying to track down her whereabouts, Logan had called him.
Logan said Skylar had messaged him, asking him to meet at The Lakeside Café and claiming Stella was there too.
Knowing Skylar was acting entirely unhinged, Logan feared she was setting them up to spark a massive conflict between Stella and Jarrod. Because of this, he tipped Jarrod off in advance.
The moment Jarrod heard the address, he dropped everything and sped straight there.
