Even without concrete evidence, Stella felt certain this had something to do with Skylar Vance.
It clicked with what Logan had mentioned a few days ago—that his so-called love for Skylar was purely the result of tampered memories. Logan had likely confronted Skylar about the truth, and in her rage, she was using this to sabotage SD Apparel.
After a moment of thought, Stella decided to call the police.
The officers arrived, took their statements, and prepared to investigate Mr. Stafford’s office. However, since quite a few people walked in and out of the office daily, uncovering the culprit was going to take time.
SD Apparel had just started gaining traction, and their recent livestreams had received great feedback. They couldn’t afford any mistakes right now.
After mulling it over, Stella decided to call Skylar directly.
Skylar didn’t seem the least bit surprised to hear from her.
She sent Stella the location of a coffee shop and asked her to come over for a chat.
Stella headed there as requested.
The Lakeside Café was built right on the water, offering a stunningly beautiful view. Skylar was seated in the open-air section on the second floor.
As Stella approached, she noticed Skylar wearing sunglasses, completely stripped of her usual gentle smile.
“You made it?” Skylar said, pulling off her sunglasses as Stella walked up.
It was then Stella noticed Skylar’s slightly red and swollen eyes. Beneath her icy exterior lay a simmering, jealous fury.
Seeing this, Stella was even more certain that Logan had laid all his cards on the table.
Skylar didn’t offer to order food or drinks like she normally would. Instead, she pointed at the chair opposite her and sneered, “Sit.”
Stella didn’t sit. She cut right to the chase. “Ms. Vance, the sudden changes to the Vance Manufacturing order—was that your doing?”
Skylar smirked, making no effort to deny it. “So what if it is? Do you have any proof?”
Since everything had happened so fast, Stella obviously didn’t have the evidence just yet.
She furrowed her brow. “So, when you went out of your way to introduce us to this deal, you had this planned all along?”
Skylar stared at Stella, a mocking look crossing her face. “At the time, I just wanted to throw you a bone so you’d feel somewhat grateful to me. But clearly, you completely lack that kind of awareness.”
When Skylar said “you,” she was absolutely grouping Stella and Logan together.
So, all of Skylar’s previous friendly gestures had just been a twisted way of playing savior.
“Whatever is going on between you and Logan has nothing to do with me, and it certainly has nothing to do with SD Apparel. Why drag me into this?” Stella demanded.
Skylar’s mockery deepened. “Playing the innocent victim? Are you going to tell me next that this is all my fault and I brought this on myself?”
