It was Logan.
Unlike the disgust and hostility she had seen in Logan’s eyes the last few times they met, his gaze right now was intensely complicated. It held a mix of agitation and deep remorse, violently suppressed yet faintly trembling.
Stella was highly surprised. How did Logan find her apartment?
She couldn’t recall ever giving Logan her address.

“Mr. Lennox, what are you doing here?” Stella asked politely, though laced with confusion.
Seeing Stella’s distant reaction, the light in Logan’s eyes dimmed significantly.
His voice was slightly raspy. “My condition… isn’t just simple amnesia.”
This completely out-of-context statement left Stella stunned.
Suddenly, she recalled the text Logan had sent her a while back, mentioning he would find time to meet with Professor Thorne’s student for a consultation. Had there been a new breakthrough?
“Is there somewhere we can sit down and talk?” Logan asked. “I won’t keep you long.”
Stella checked the time. It was still early for lunch, so she nodded. “Alright.”
The neighborhood had a coffee shop right next door, so Stella and Logan headed over.
At the same time, Stella sent Jarrod a voice memo, truthfully explaining that Logan had come by to discuss something and that he could pick her up a little later. She also sent him the location of the coffee shop.
Logan took note of everything Stella did, and his expression grew even more convoluted.
