Ever since Jarrod had shown up at her apartment in the middle of the night and bared his soul, their communication had noticeably increased over the past two days.
Jarrod would text her from time to time, just to ask how her day was going.
Even for something as minor as having his driver deliver her car yesterday morning, Jarrod had made a point to call her in advance.
Why was Jarrod calling again at this hour?
Since Sebastian was still waiting, Stella decided to silence the call for now.
“I think I’ll pass on dinner. Helping out that night was nothing, and Chloe has already thanked me. You’ve thanked me multiple times over the phone too.”
Stella continued, “As for the apology, there’s really no need. She admitted she was wrong about smashing the equipment and paid for the damages. That’s all in the past; no need to bring it up again.”
“Stella, Chloe has already resigned. She’s planning to leave Royal Oaks. She’s genuinely sincere about buying you dinner this time. Are you really not going to give her a chance?” Sebastian coaxed, his tone light and teasing.
Sebastian rarely made demands of her, usually respecting her decisions. Right now, his eyes held a glimmer of hope. Even though he asked jokingly, he genuinely wanted her to go.
“Alright then.”
Stella nodded. It was just meeting Chloe, not exactly a date. She could go.
“But I’m warning you upfront. If things get awkward, I’m not responsible for smoothing it over,” Stella joked back.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be there. If worst comes to worst, I’ll just kick Chloe out.” Sebastian’s mood visibly lifted.
“…” Stella remained silent.
“Wrap up whatever you’re working on. I’ll go grab my car keys and be right back.”
Sebastian said, stepping out of the office.
Stella picked up her phone.
She had a feeling Jarrod was calling to ask for her decision.
Since she still hadn’t completely made up her mind, Stella sent Jarrod a quick text saying she was busy and would call him back later.
