Stepping out of the coffee shop, Stella pulled out her phone to locate her driver, only to spot Sebastian standing a short distance away.
Seeing her, he immediately walked over.
Stella looked confused. “Sebastian, how did you know I was here?”
Sebastian offered a warm, reassuring smile. “I just went up to your father’s ward. The nurse told me you had already left, so I asked your driver and found out you came down here.”
That explained it.
Just as Stella was about to suggest they leave together, she noticed a sudden shift in Sebastian’s expression.
She followed his gaze and saw Jarrod walking out of the coffee shop, carefully supporting Yvette.
Yvette was still walking with a slight limp, and Jarrod’s hand was firmly resting on her arm to keep her steady.
Not wanting Sebastian to start another public brawl with Jarrod, Stella reached out and lightly tugged at his sleeve. “Let’s just ignore them. We should go,” she said softly.
Sebastian shot a glacial glare at Jarrod before smoothly wrapping his arm around Stella’s shoulders. “Of course.”
Knowing Sebastian was putting on a deliberate show, Stella didn’t pull away and walked with him toward his car.
Yvette peeked up at Jarrod’s expression, carefully probing, “Jarrod, did things escalate between Stella and Mr. Huxley that quickly?”
Jarrod’s eyes darkened noticeably, his tone dripping with bitter mockery. “It seems I never really mattered to her. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have run straight into the arms of my closest friend.”
“Maybe she’s just doing it to get a reaction out of you,” Yvette offered.
Jarrod scoffed faintly, offering no further comment as he helped Yvette into the car.
Stella got into the passenger seat of Sebastian’s car, while her driver followed closely behind them in her vehicle.
Inside the car, Sebastian immediately apologized for his boldness. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have put my arm around you without asking.”
