The speaker was one of Lucca Sterling’s close buddies.
Summer Rhodes paused her footsteps.
Little sweet thing meant Aria?
“Lucca, aren’t you afraid Summer will get mad if she finds out you didn’t send Aria away and instead set her up in a secret love nest?” another of Lucca’s friends asked.
“So what if she finds out? Lucca has been with her for years; he’s bored. What’s wrong with keeping a cute little pet for something fresh?”
“Exactly. For someone of Lucca’s status, having a steady woman at home and a few on the side is totally normal!”
The others chimed in their agreement.
“Watch your mouths and stop talking nonsense in front of Summer. If she finds out about this, I’ll make sure you all pay for it,” Lucca Sterling’s lazy voice finally chimed in.
“Don’t worry, Lucca. Our lips are sealed. We won’t leak a single word!”
“Honestly, Lucca, you shouldn’t even care what Summer thinks! She’s nearing thirty and doesn’t even have a decent job. If it weren’t for you, there’s no way she could live such a pampered life all these years.”
The first buddy spoke up again. “You just put her on too high a pedestal in the past, making her think she’s irreplaceable!”
Lucca seemed to take a sip of alcohol, his voice slurring slightly. “Regardless, she’s been devoted to me all these years, without a single flaw. Besides, Aria isn’t presentable for high society anyway. I just find her to be a different type from Summer, so it’s a bit of a novelty.”
“Summer happens to be going abroad for a vacation to relax. By the time she gets back, I might have completely lost interest in Aria anyway…”
