The person standing outside was none other than Summer!
Panic seized Lucca instantly. He rapidly withdrew his arm from around Aria.
Caught off guard, Aria fell backward, hitting her head against the edge of the bed.
Ignoring her completely, Lucca lunged forward to pull the door wide open. His voice laced with panic, he asked, “Summer, what are you doing here?”
Summer’s face was devoid of emotion. Her calm gaze swept over the room before settling on Lucca.
When she spoke, her voice was frigid. “I heard you called the cops and were planning to cause trouble for Stella, so I came to apologize to you on her behalf.”
Lucca’s expression faltered, rendering him speechless.
Forget Lucca—even Stella hadn’t anticipated Summer showing up.
Hadn’t she told her last night that none of this concerned her and that they would talk when Stella got back? Why did she come anyway?
Stella quickly pushed past Lucca, stepping to Summer’s side to support her. “Summer, didn’t I tell you not to come?” she asked worriedly.
Summer gave Stella’s arm a reassuring pat and stepped into the room.
Out in the hall, Jasper was trying to peek inside, but Stella shot him a look that stopped him in his tracks.
To keep Jasper out of it and minimize the scene, Stella quietly closed the door.
At the same time, Aria, sitting on the bed, began to explain with timid, guilt-ridden tears. “Summer, this is all a misunderstanding. We didn’t really want Stella to apologize. Lucca just called the cops because he was so angry in the moment…”
“And… I begged Lucca to bring me to Ashford. I just wanted us to spend some time together as a family of three before I had the abortion. It was my last wish… Everything is my fault. I—”
“Shut up!” Summer cut her off coldly. “Did I ask you? I’m speaking to Lucca. Who told you it was your turn to talk?”
