Jasper crossed his arms defensively. “Whether it was last time or today, I wasn’t wrong! They deserved to be punched! Right, Stella?”
Hearing this, Stella turned her head away guiltily. She had no right to comment. The entire mess tonight had started because she had thrown the first slap.
Jarrod glanced at Stella’s lowered eyes. “I wasn’t talking about you. You stood up for your best friend. You did nothing wrong.”
Stella remained silent.
Jasper looked at him in disbelief.
“Jarrod, do you hear yourself? Even if you’re going to have double standards, at least try to hide it from me!”
“Besides, you’re telling me you’ve never used your fists to solve a problem?” Jasper scoffed.
Of course he had. He had just gotten into a brawl with Sebastian Huxley not too long ago. He had even acted childishly provocative at the movie theater just a couple of days ago.
Stella retorted silently in her head.
Jarrod naturally remembered those incidents as well. He silenced Jasper’s protests with a stern glare and quickly changed the subject.
He assured them that his lawyers would handle the fallout and that they had nothing more to worry about.
“I knew calling you was the right move!” Jasper cheered up immediately.
Jarrod shot him a sideways glance and said dryly, “I’ll let it slide this time since you were protecting Stella. Don’t be so impulsive in the future.”
“Got it!”
Jasper agreed readily, then turned to Stella. “Don’t worry, Stella. If anyone else dares to bully you, I’ll punch them too. No mercy!”
Stella was speechless. She really hoped there wouldn’t be a next time.
With Jasper in the car, the atmosphere remained lively.
It was completely unlike when Stella and Jarrod were alone, where the only things filling the space were silence or the pretense of sleep.
Before long, the driver pulled up to the hotel.
Jarrod had already had a room booked before his arrival. He grabbed the key card, and the three of them headed upstairs together.
In the elevator, Stella pulled out the bag of medicine and handed it to Jarrod. “Remember to apply this for Jasper later. His injury is on his shoulder blade, so he can’t reach it himself.”
