It was actually Jarrod Fuller!
He looked like he had just come from some formal event, dressed in a sharp, tailored suit. The bandage on his right hand had been removed, and he carried an air of travel-worn urgency.
Stella was completely surprised. What was Jarrod doing here at this hour?
A second later, she realized the truth and glanced at Jasper.
Jasper gave a cheeky grin. “I texted Jarrod. I was worried you were going to get bullied by that scumbag and his mistress!”
With that, Jasper hurried over to him. “Jarrod!”
Jarrod ignored him, striding straight up to Stella. “Are you hurt?”
Although their encounter at the movie theater the other day hadn’t ended well, Jarrod had come all the way from Royal Oaks for her. Stella couldn’t just give him the cold shoulder.
She shook her head. “I’m fine, but Jasper got hit with a brick.”
Only then did Jarrod shift his gaze to Jasper.
Jasper shrugged it off entirely. “Stella took me to see a doctor. No broken bones, just need to apply some ointment.”
“Oh, right, Stella! Didn’t that jerk push you earlier? Did you sprain your ankle?” Jasper suddenly remembered. “Why didn’t you have the doctor check it out at the hospital?”
Stella’s nerves had been strung tight all evening. If Jasper hadn’t mentioned it, she would have forgotten all about it.
“It’s fine now,” Stella said. “It’s cold out here. Let’s talk in the car.”
Before Jarrod’s plane had even landed, Arthur Bishop had already arranged a car and driver for him.
The driver was standing by, holding the door open for them.
Jasper quickly claimed the passenger seat, leaving Stella and Jarrod to sit in the back.
“Is your ankle really fine?”
Before Stella could even process the question, Jarrod had lifted her leg and rested her foot on his lap!
