The chat displayed “typing…” for a long moment, then stopped abruptly. No new messages came through.
Stella put her phone away. Seeing Sebastian still waiting, she gave him an apologetic look.
“Sorry, I forgot you were still here. You really don’t have to wait with me. I can grab a cab on my own.”
Judging from her reaction, Sebastian guessed the messages were from Jarrod.
He knew their cooling-off period was almost up, so Jarrod had probably just tried to negotiate terms to delay things.
But seeing the resolute look on Stella’s face, he figured nothing was going to change her mind.
Just then, an empty cab rolled by. Sebastian waved it down. “Get in, Stella. Be safe.”
She nodded and waved goodbye.
