Chapter 128
He Never Noticed Me Until I Loved Someone Else novel Chapter 128
“The absolute worst part is the guys who used to hit on you. They’re saying the most disgusting things, claiming you only rejected them because they weren’t rich enough to satisfy your gold-digging ambitions. I was practically foaming at the mouth!”
Panting with rage, Cassidy recounted how she had tried to defend Stella in the group chat, begging people to stop spreading baseless lies, only to be completely shut down.
“I got so mad I finally snapped and told them all that Mr. Fuller is literally your husband, and you know what happened?”
Cassidy looked like she wanted to scream, but she bit her lip and let out a string of defeated sighs instead.
Stella knew exactly what had happened. No one believed Cassidy’s outburst, and they had probably mocked her ruthlessly for kissing up to the resident ‘mistress.’
“I finally understand what it means to run yourself ragged trying to kill a rumor. Unless Mr. Fuller personally clears this up, no one is ever going to believe you,” Cassidy admitted, her shoulders slumping.
Seeing her ally looking so deflated, Stella offered a soft, genuine smile. “Thank you, Cassidy.”
“For what? I didn’t actually convince a single person. I’m totally useless.”
Stella chuckled softly. “It’s fine. Give it a few days. Once the drama gets old, they’ll find something else to gossip about.”
“Stella, I am begging you, please don’t back down! Just march into his office and demand he publicly acknowledge your status! Let me have this victory!” Cassidy pleaded.
Pitying her friend, Stella affectionately patted Cassidy’s head. “I’m afraid you’re not getting that victory. We’re practically over. We submitted our divorce paperwork to City Hall last week.”
!!!
Cassidy stared at her, utterly shell-shocked and entirely speechless.
Finally, she shook her head in sheer defeat. “I really poured my heart into the wrong ship.”
“…” Stella rolled her eyes playfully. “Enough drama. Get back to work.”
Cassidy trudged back to her cubicle like a zombie.
Stella’s mind drifted back to Jarrod’s parting words the night before. He had told her to use her title as Mrs. Fuller, promising he wouldn’t just stand by.
But this was Mythos Online. This was Chloe’s undisputed territory.
Stella simply couldn’t risk betting that Jarrod would actually side with her when push came to shove.
