Skylar considered it for a moment. “I’ll talk to Logan first. If he agrees, I’ll let you know.”
“Okay. Thank you.”
Stella forced the words out and stood up to leave.
Just as she walked outside to wait for her ride, Stella bumped into Serena Fuller stepping out of a car with a few friends.
Seeing her, Serena marched over, instantly turning on her usual arrogant, mocking attitude.
“Well, well, looking a little pale there. What, are you jealous that Chloe gets to accompany my brother on a business trip abroad?”
Serena only mentioned Chloe Huxley, meaning she probably didn’t know about the incident at St. Jude’s Island yet, otherwise she would never have missed the chance to humiliate her over it.
Stella had no idea Jarrod was traveling abroad with Chloe. After Jarrod had left her behind last night, he hadn’t sent a single message, and Arthur Bishop hadn’t replied to her either.
“Honestly, playing the victim is useless! A man like my brother would never settle for someone like you!”
Serena sneered, “I heard from my dad that my brother brought his lawyers over this morning. He’s definitely drafting the divorce papers! You better get ready to be kicked to the curb!”
Jarrod had not only severed the business ties with the Quinn family but had also hired lawyers to initiate the divorce.
His words from last night—’She doesn’t get to divorce me just because she wants to’—meant that the timing and terms of the divorce were entirely up to him.
Stella knew that a powerful, elite man like Jarrod was used to people bending over backward to please him. No one had ever dared to humiliate him.
She admitted she had been too impulsive that night on the island.
But even if she had to do it all over again, she still wouldn’t have been able to stop herself.
For the past three years, Logan had been the sole driving force keeping Stella going through her miserable marriage and her grinding work at Mythos Online.
She had wanted to wait for him to wake up, to protect the dreams he once had.
