Stella looked at her completely unharmed self and shook her head. “I’m fine.”
“But Summer, how did you find out?”
Summer explained that she had heard everything from Lucca Sterling.
When Lucca stepped out to take a phone call yesterday, he had seen Stella crying over the engagement sign of Logan and Skylar.
And last night, even though Arthur Bishop had moved quickly to suppress the news of Stella crashing the party, people still managed to dig into the connection between Stella and Jarrod. It didn’t take a genius to figure out why Jarrod had locked down the rumors.
A scandalous piece of gossip like that spread through their social circles like wildfire.
Summer had called her the moment she found out, but Stella’s phone had been turned off all night.
“Stella, I was so scared Jarrod was going to hurt you. I was worried sick. But he didn’t just suppress the news, he actually carried you back to the room?”
Summer sounded in disbelief. “Didn’t you say he doesn’t have any feelings for you? Because that really doesn’t look like it.”
Stella lowered her voice. “I’m still his wife on paper. Me making a fool of myself embarrasses him too. He couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.”
Summer disagreed entirely. “Lucca told me Jarrod was wearing a scarf yesterday, and he publicly announced his wife gave it to him. When people were sucking up to him about how in love you two were, he didn’t even correct them!”
“So, Stella, could you be wrong? Maybe Jarrod actually does care about you?”
Stella didn’t take any of Summer’s theories to heart.
Jarrod only wore the scarf because she had casually mentioned the temperature was dropping. As for ignoring the flattering comments, it was just because he couldn’t be bothered to waste his breath explaining.
Besides, many of those businessmen knew Grandpa Fuller. Jarrod naturally had to keep up appearances.
After Stella gave Summer her reasoning, Summer asked, “Well, you made a pretty massive scene. How are you going to explain this to Jarrod?”
Stella paused before answering, “Any explanation is just an excuse. I might as well just file for divorce early. Once he’s rid of me, no one will tie my mess to his name anymore.”
